Researchers occupied a regular room on the floor and observed evenings and weekends. 5 waves of interviews through and beyond college. Currently working on follow-up interviews 5 years after the last interview. Chose iu for its rep as a party school. Anticipated sorority life well in advance of attending. High parental involvement in steering toward iu. Escaping small towns but still tied to them. Gaining skills and credentials transferable into employment upon graduation. Almost all still in a relationship with non-college boyfriend. It is just what one did after high school. These are constructed by the university in response to the interests and pressures of its core constituents. Pathways coordinate the academic and social experiences of students. Each pathway is intended to primarily serve a particular type of student.
