Document Summary

We need oxygen to make energy for our body to function. Our lungs have a lot of surface area because we absorb a lot of oxygen at once and need enough of it in order for our bodies to function properly. The pathway starts by breathing in through the nose and mouth and traveling down the larynx which then branches to the trachea. The trachea then turns into two bronchi, each bronchi goes into one lung. The bronchi then have little bronchioles connected at the bottom with sac like looking things, which are called the alveoli. Alveoli are little bags of thin membrane, covered with capillaries. The alveoli allow oxygen to dissolve through the membrane and is then absorbed by blood in the capillaries which goes through the circularity system providing oxygen throughout the body. Where one is kept and one exhaled from the body.
