Document Summary

The immune response falls into subclasses of responses: There are cellular and humoral components of the immune response. Cellular response is actually part in parcel because, amongst other things, the antibodies must be made somewhere, specifically, the circulating lymphatic system. Components of the cellular response include variant lymphocytes. B lymphocytes are the machineries for making antibodies. T lymphocytes stimulate b cells to carry out their function, direct attack of aberrant proteins, and mediate the cytotoxic component of the immune response. There are other components of the immune response that involve effector cells like macrophages and neutrophils. These cells have a lot of proteolytic enzymes to clean up destruction mediated by antibodies. Antibodies target cells in the body and inappropriate cells that could be bacteria present as a result of an infection so that the neutrophils and macrophages can clean them up.
