Drug: a substance other than food that alters organism structure and function. Medical: substance used to prevent or treat a disease. Sociological: anh habit forming chemical that- has a direct effect on the users physical psychological and/or intellectual functioning- has the potential to be abused. Drugs can be viewed from objective and subjective perceptions. Objective: the degree to which it causes physiological, psychological, or social problems for the individual or the society. Subjective: refers to how people perceive the consequences of drug use and how they base off social use. Alcohol and tobacco are habit forming but have been proven to be harmful. Drug abuse: use of a drug to an extent that causes harm to the user. Physical and psychological dependence can be considered other aspects.
