Comm research is a systematic process of posing questions about human communication, designing and implementing research that answers questions, and then persuading other researchers that your results are valid. Researchers may use qualitative methods, quantitative methods, or both. As comm scholars/researchers, we are always going to get results as a result of our own personal world view. Human communication is objectively measurable and can be summarized in rules -- the way we can count, measure and generalize human communication. If you have this worldview, you understand that the world is measurable and you can measure people"s actions. Human communication is subjective, individualistic and must be described as such. This world view will look in-depth at situations and won"t apply general rules to situations. **we take a set of observations and try to create a theory from that information. Reasoning from observations to a theory that explains the observations.
