Document Summary

Audience of one: as content consumers, we are trained to assume others share our preferences and perspectives, we must overcome this default setting of being an audience of one. In order to overcome this to reach a broader audience that we are trying to appeal to we must: gather information, take others" perspectives in to account. Audience members are not created equal: passive audience members, audiences that don"t comment, like, or share, active / engaged audience members. Influencers, evangelists: comments, likes, shares, helps grow audience by promoting your work. In the age of social media content distribution, your friends and family are often your first audience: supportive when you need it most, can warp your beliefs about larger audiences. Testing content: content needs to be tested on a small diverse group, all media content is social media content, even if the content is created offline, it can spread to audiences online, pay attention to audiences online.
