Procedural self - knowledge: all the different rules of thumb people use in thinking about themselves. Info that we do not have conscious access to. All the different non - conscious rules that drive an individual"s thoughts, emotions, & behaviors. We can ride bike, but we do not have all conscious access to how we ride bike. It"s hard to describe with detail how to ride a bike. Hard to describe why you had emotional reaction. Declarative self - knowledge: the content of self - experience, including the characteristics, traits, roles, & so on that we use to describe ourselves; comprises the self - concept. Self - concept = our collection of self - knowledge stored in memory. Thoughts, beliefs, & memories of the self become organized & linked together in an associative network.
