Document Summary
Motive an inner state that energizes, activates, or moves, and that directs or channels behavior toward goals. Motivation the willingness to exert high levels of effort to reach organizational goals, conditioned by the effort"s ability to satisfy some individual need. Motivated behavior: the direction of an individual"s behavior (measured by the choice made when several alternatives are available, strength of that behavior once a choice is made, the persistence of that behavior. The only way to get someone to do something is to get them to want to do it, thus learn why people want to do things and how they can be persuaded/motivated. Technology is not the cause of great leadership, though it may help to accelerate it. Mergers and acquisitions did not cause transformation. Transformations did not need any new name, tagline, or launch program. Leap was in performance results, not a revolutionary process. Transformation was not a function of circumstance but a clear matter of conscious choice.
