NURS 245 Lecture Notes - Lecture 1: Myasthenia Gravis, Cerebellar Ataxia, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis
Document Summary
Skeletal muscle problems: disuse atrophy, denervaion atrophy, muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis. Peripheral nerve injuries are caused by damage to peripheral nerve cell bodies, damage to their axons, either in spinal or peripheral nerves and/or damage to their myelin sheaths. These injuries can further be categorized into mono and polyneuropathies. Some injuries can fall into either category: herniated disc. Motor dysfuncions originaing from speciic brain locaions: cerebellum dysfuncion, vesibulocerebellar disorders, cerebellar ataxia, cerebellar tremor, basal ganglia dysfuncion, parkinson"s disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, muliple sclerosis. Spinal cord injuries: central cord syndrome, anterior cord syndrome, brown-sequard syndrome, autonomic dysfuncion.
