FSCN 4613 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Microman, Pipette, No Air
Document Summary
Repipet: dispensing larger quantities of liquid quickly. Can fill a number of tubes quickly. Spins liquid to create wirlpool- a vortex . Tubes should be no more than half full. Small volume w/ viscosity similar to water (aqueous samples) Tip is immersed in sample, but there is an air gap between solution and piston inside shaft. Good for pipetting viscous solution or very low viscosity. No air gap, plastic piston makes contact with the sample. Depress the plunger to the first stop. Put the pipette tip into the liquid sample and slowly release the plunger. Put the pipette tip into the receiving tube and slowly depress the plunger to the first stop. Wait 2-3 seconds, and depress the plunger to the second stop. Remove the pipette tip from the receiving tube and release the plunger. Pre-wetting the tip of the pipetman (does not refer to microman) To get the most accurate results, you must pre-wet the pipette tip.
