Layer of cuboidal epithelial cells called germinal epithelium. Ovarian ligament that holds the ovary in place. Round ligament that maintains the ovary attachment to uterus. Born with the total number of eggs for life. Secondary oocyte by meiosis- ready for fertilization. Extend from the medial portion of the ovary to the lateral region of the uterus, called the isthmus. Infundibulum, hand-like structure that goes around the ovaries. Follicles get larger and the dominant one (erafaain cell) Cell bursts out of the ovary and the fimbriae are trying to sweep it towards the fallopian tubes. Cilia helping to push it in the correct direction as well. Primary function id to receive, retain, and nourish a fertilized ovum. Connecting point between the cervix and uterus. Made up to 3 layers of smooth muscle.
