Background and context
A cell is a structure that is capable of independent existence by itself and is also capable of performing all the essential functions of life. A cell is hence known as the basic structural and functional unit of all living organisms. A cell consists of many organelles within it.
One of the organelles is the endoplasmic reticulum. They are of two types, responsible for conducting different functions within a cell.
