Background and context
Plants respond to external stimuli such as sunlight, water, etc. by developing towards the direction of the stimuli or away from it. Hormones regulate the majority of these growth processes only at the cellular level. These hormones are mainly chemical signals that are created in response to external stimuli such as sunshine, water loss, or changes in temperature. The hormone attaches to specific receptors in the plant's cells and tissues, causing a reaction.
