Background and context
Nucleotides have three basic parts – a phosphate group, a nitrogen-containing base group, and a 5-carbon sugar group. The nucleotide of DNA contains deoxyribose sugar, and one of 4 nitrogenous bases adenine, cytosine, guanine, or thymine, while nucleotide of RNA contains ribose sugar and one of the four nitrogenous bases: Adenine, Guanine, Uracil, and Thymine.
