Background and context
The process of photosynthesis has two phases, a light reaction and a dark reaction. In the light reaction, the chlorophyll absorbs the visible light in two photosystems, PSI, and PSII. The excited reaction centers then carriers the electron accepted by various electron-accepting systems and finally release energy. The dark reaction involves the Calvin cycle that takes place within the stroma of the chloroplast.
