Skin cancer/melanoma: cancerous growths that develop when unrepaired. Dna damage to skin cells, most oten cause by uv light triggers mutaions that lead the skin cells to muliply rapidly to form malignant tumors. Melanocytes are the melanin-producing cells located in the botom layer of the skin"s epidermis. Melanin is responsible for skin-colour which is why changes in mole colour can be indicaive of melanoma. Parkinson"s disease: degeneraive disorder of the nervous system due to the death of dopamine-producing cells. Reason for this cell death is poorly understood but involves the build-up of proteins into lewy bodies in the neurons that relate to symptoms of postural rigidity, shaking and emoional problems. Medicaions such as l-dopa and dopamine agonists improve the early symptoms of the disease. Lyme disease: infecious disease caused by the borrelai bacteria that is carried and transmited through tick bites.
