This is due to the fact that both definitions are so closely related yet vastly different. Citizen kane appears to focus purely on image as presence, yet upon further analyzation and decomposition, it is clear that the main objective of the film is to create it as one of text. Blade runner seems to do the exact opposite as it first gives the appearance of image as text yet has clear presence elements that define the film and urges the viewer to see both as intertwining images. Citizen kane is a mystery drama film directed by orson wilson and released in 1941. Wilson utilizes cinematographic techniques to create the character of charles foster kane.
