Programs that increase effective learning of adaptive skills and decrease behavior that interferes with learning. Differs from other fields in its analysis. Example: anticipate that it will rain, may use word know , have a feeling it will rain, takes umbrella before leaving. Explanation of behavior must address these constructs. Ex: freud id, ego, super-ego unexplained phenomenon, possible existing, but unobserved. Explanatory fiction rat presses lever because it knows it will get food. Ethics are essential to a therapeutic relationship. Ethical behavior is dictated by certification body, state and federal laws. Aba therapy is based upon the tenets of science.
