Document Summary
Food security = people having access to nutritious food, that is helpful, knowing you will have a next meal, having the guarantee. Food justice = refers to the idea that we have changed our mindset about food. Food sovereignty area you live in: having the ability to make choices, being able to demand the right to safe, nutritious and culturally. E. acceptable food and a right to determine their own food systems. It seeks to connect consumers to producers through systems of rights based on mutual aid, rather than top-down aid. Urban agriculture (gardens) are expected to promote food justice for people in areas that may not have access to nutritious food by providing them access to fresh fruit and produce. Organizing food production on a community scale through urban agriculture promotes produce and consumer agencies (becomes transparent for community to see).
