High context situational variables look through global approach. Low context culture look at individual elements. Thematic apperception test: show subject vague picture w/ many interpretation. subject writes a story. Asch experiment - line experiment where person conforms. Social identity theory: ppl form perceptions of themselves based on their personal characteristics and memberships in social categories. Bruner"s model of perceptual process: when perceiver encounters unfamiliar target, very open to informational cues in environment and situation. Actively seek out cues to resolve ambiguity and gradually, with some familiar cues, slowly categorize target which follows from social identity theory. Factors that in uence our selection: interest, need, aesthetics, biology. Syndrome: media in uencing children"s attention span making them di cult to focus laptops doesn"t help learning process .
