Socialization: the lifelong social learning a person undergoes to become a capable member of society, through social interaction with others, and in response to social pressures. Culture: all that in human society which is socially rather than biologically transmitted. A term for the symbolic and learned aspects of human society. Acculturation: the process of assimilating a culture other than the one a person was first socialized into. The learning that takes place in the early years of our lives. It is crucial to the shaping of our character, and helps one learn basic social skills. Learning that occurs after childhood, and that usually involves acquiring specific roles, norms, attitudes, or beliefs.
