Communication is complicated, and word meaning isn"t always clear. Writing conventions and other communication forms can widely vary across certain audiences. To be an effective communicator, we have to be mindful of these differences and make sure people understand. Depending on the communication mode, the idea can be more clear when delivered. Communication has to include the transfer and understanding of the meaning of what you"re communicating. Communicating is more than just imparting meaning, you have to also make sure the meaning is understood. Only then can we convey the information and ideas were trying to deliver. If perfect communication existed, thoughts would be transmitted so the receiver understands the same mental picture the sender tried to send. Communication can have a vertical or lateral flow through networks that are small groups or informal grapevines. You can subdivide vertical dimensions into directions that go down or up as well.
