The new jim crow mass incarceration in the age of colorblindness by michelle alexander. Obama gave a speech on fathers" day about how black men should be better fathers, same old tune black men have been hearing for decades. Even though obama"s speech was elegant as usual, the author believes obama (of all people) is being racist and ignorant in this situation. Michael eric dyson heavily criticized this speech and deemed it as obama using a tired stereotype against black people. One researcher believes that black fathers who are absent are more likely to keep in contact with their kids than those who are present (which is impossible by the way but that"s another story). In other words, not once is the issue of mass black incarceration included in these discussions of black absentee fathers. This missing black fathers debate also is similar to why many black women are single.
