This only increased the demand for the calicoes and the ban had to be lifted. The british began to use more machinery than labor and found it more profitable. British vast reserves of coal resulted in cheaper energy. Britain had been the center of the european scientific revolution. New tech included: flying shuttles, spinning jenny, water frame, spinning mule, power loom, steam engine. Growing dependence on large machinery transporting fuel and raw materials increase efficiency of housing and large manufacturing building.
