Women could not own businesses or be an entrepreneur. Property was transferred to the authority of her husband. If a man caught his wife cheating, the husband or father can kill the adulterers. The woman is just another part of the household. People could expose their child if they didn"t have the resources to care for the child. Daughters are more likely to be exposed over sons. It can increase your status if you have fewer members in your family. An educated woman is a danger woman. Excluded from philosophical discussions in the agora, academia and the symposium (male spaces) Women can go to witness the discussions but not to participate. Symposiums are social events for men (partied hard and drank a lot and exchanged ideas) The only women who are invited are slaves and hetaira (courtesans) The hetaira are likely to be educated in order to hold conversations with men.
