Document Summary
I polluted 2 samples of water from a campus lake with different levels of phosphate and one with no phosphate. This is supposed to simulate the conditions in a lake when it is polluted by phosphate from pesticides and other pollutants. The different levels of phosphate in the water samples will not affect properties of the sample like algae growth and clarity. The different levels of phosphate in the water samples will affect the water. It will affect the amount of growth seen within the sample and, by extension, the water clarity. I predict that as the phosphate level in the sample is increased, the dissolved oxygen level will decrease and so will the chlorophyll growth due to the increased algae growth which excess phosphate produces. The variables in this experiment were the amount of dissolved oxygen, the phosphate level, and where the water sample was taken from.
