With the war most likely lost (dec. 1941), germans want to squeeze out victory. Wanted what the u. s. had in western frontier. During initial months of soviet invasion, genocide put in place. Hunger plan- not a very successful plan and fails. Germans went into villages found the jews and shot them into pits. Soviet, polish pows, communists, homosexuals, handicapped, others targeted but jews suffered the brunt. Puts up the money and materials to win. 1942: u. s. , british, push germans out of north africa. In the meantime, german cities leveled through aerial bombings.
