Lecture #9: technique chart & cluster 3 labs. New systems apr (anatomically programmed radiography) - programmed into the system, picks technique based on anatomy picked. Consider the variables required in developing a technique chart for film vs cr vs dr. Film has a narrow latitude, so we needed to know the exact thickness (not very forgiving) When developing a technique chart had to be aware of what generator/tube was like, film speed we were using, how effective intensifying screens were. Thickness is still important, but we understand that dr is ok with an estimate - don"t have to be perfect to get a good image - less parts to worry about (unlike cr) Quality - want all images to look good (good sr, exposure, cr) Dose - alara - lowest dose to get highest quality images. Departments/institutions that strictly adhere to technique charts typically have lower repeat rates.
