I believe that structure and flexibility come hand in hand. I feel as if one cannot function without the other. Yes, one must have structure, a skeleton of how things go, a framework of what"s considered "normal. " However, i think if one were to only have structure, preschool would be boring and dry. As we bring in flexibility, i think it"s still very important to follow a brief skeleton of the structure, while adding in new and exciting concepts and ideas each and every day. There are several ways in which an early childhood educator can create meaningful daily routines in the classroom that respects and still draw on children"s out of school interests. This week"s readings really expanding my horizons and ideas about how to encourage children and support them in a way that"s helpful but also to the best of our abilities.
