o Discrimination: where a manager denies promotion or appointment to a
job candidate because of the candidate's race, religion, gender, age or
other criterion not relevant to the job
o Sexual harassment: where a manager makes a co-worker feel
uncomfortable because of inappropriate comments or actions regarding
sexuality; or where a manager requests sexual favours in return for
favourable job treatment
o Conflicts of interest: where a manager takes a bribe or kickback or
extraordinary gift in return for making a decision favourable to the gift
giver

Individualism: does the decision or behaviour promote my/our long term
interests?
Moral rights view: does the decision or behaviour maintain the fundamental
rights of all people?
Justice view: does the decision or behaviour show fairness and impartiality?
Utilitarian view: does the decisions or behaviour do the greatest good for the
greatest number of people?
Social responsibility:
All organisations exist in complex relationships with elements in their external
environment
Organisational stakeholders:
o Directly affected by the behaviour of the organisation and holding a
stake in its performance
o May include government, competitors, shareholders, customers,
employees, civil society, suppliers, pressure groups and regulators
Corporate social responsibility:
o Obligation of the organisation to act in ways that serve both its own
interests and the interests of its many external stakeholders
