MIRA2015 Lecture 5: CT-1
Document Summary
From 4 slice to 320 slice ct with significant improvement in spatial resolution. Ability to detect small anatomical details with high accuracy. Rca: right coronary artery, lc: left main stem, lad: left anterior descending, lcx: left circumflex. Effect of spatial resolution on visualisation of coronary lumen and stent. Arrow: area detector with pixel size < 0. 5mm. Ri: the reconstruction interval defines the degree of overlap between reconstructed axial images. To improve z-axis resolution, especially for 3d or mpr imaging. If the reader is making a diagnosis based on only axial images, reconstruction interval is not an issue. Temporal resolution is still limited, in particular, in cardiac ct imaging. It is limited by the gantry rotation time (the amount of time required to complete one full rotation of the x ray tube around the subject) Temporal resolution is equal to half the gantry rotation speed (250ms for 500 rotation time).
