Ways to practice your skills
Get into pairs and try to interact for 8-10 minutes!
"One of you as the sender!
"One as the receiver !
Fishbowl Activity!
"One sender!
"As many receivers as you would like (usually between 2-5)!
"First receiver introduces session!
"“Hi, I’m ____ and I am here to listen and help you in any way that I can… how are
you feeling today?”!
"Get the sender talking!
"Work out what they want from the session!
"Reflect feeling and content!
"Keep conversation on topic, don’t direct the conversation where you would like it
to go!
"Every 3-4 minutes, change receiver!
"Keep sender talking, new receiver practices skills!
Practice receiving skills in everyday life!
"At home, in conversations with family!

Practice being able to introduce and conclude sessions!
