ANAT20006 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Subcutaneous Tissue, Keratinocyte, Apocrine
Document Summary
Appendages = hair, nails, subcutaneous tissue, glands. Mainly from ectoderm (epidermis), rest from mesoderm. Apocrine produce odour and are only found in some areas. Stratum corneum- keratinocytes (exfoliate constantly), melanocytes (pigment) sit on top of keratinocytes to protect them from uv. Sebaceous glands- none in palm of hands or bottom of feet. Papillary layer- of dermis, loosely arranged collagen. Elasticity loses over time, with obesity etc, which forms wrinkles. Loosely spaced collagen, highly vascular, injections go here. Passage of collagen fibres cause creasing from where dermis binds to epidermis. Sweat glands are ectoderm derived but have support from mesoderm. Motor nerve fibres from the sym pathetic system. Area of skin supplied by single spinal cord segment. Pain instead of felt in organs will be felt in the skin from the same dermatome via referred pain. Av anastomoses in skin allows arterial/venous supply to interact via capillary bed but in ears, nose there isn"t one so you have this.
