Vestibule- ski(cid:374) is tough so does(cid:374)"t get da(cid:373)aged easily. Turbinates hold air in cavity for longer so it can be warmed and humidified by mucosa before it gets into lower cavities. There are openings on the wall in the middle/superior mainly for paranasal sinuses. Sinuses begin as outpocketing in bones to lighten face. At top so easier to drain but maxillary opens high up so bacteria can get in and is hard to drain. Can then compress mucosa and cause pain= sinusitis. Mylohyoid muscle forms diaphragm to help prevent things falling out of mouth. Papillae have groups of cells embedded in wall= tastebuds. Extrinsic- attachments outside of tongue: alter position. If no space wisdom teeth come out sideways and impact on 2nd molars. Thyroid= ada(cid:373)"s apple- open posteriorly to allow space (laryngeal inlet) to communicate between upper and lower.
