Suspicion of injury to shoulder joint (usually trauma, sometimes degenerative disease) Ap: useful for showing degree and direction of dislocations. Lateral: similar to shoulder y view, entire humerus included. Ap: distal humerus, proximal radius and ulna, both lateral epicondyles. Lateral: detail of ulnar trochleoid joint, coronaid process, olecranon process, useful for assessing alignment. Modified view: external oblique, shows radial head with minimal superimposition -> assess for subtle injuries at head or neck of radius. Ap: radius and ulna supinated in anatomical position, large amounts of distortion when assessing wrist or elbow joint. Lateral: partial overlapping of ulna and radius. Pa: carpal bones, radius and ulna. Oblique: useful for increasing sensitivity for finding subtle injuries.
