Each cell has multiple copies of a receptor for a single antigen only and thus responds to only one antigen. Antigens (antibody generating): molecules recognized by receptors on lymphocytes, which elicit a specific immune response to that antigen. Antigens can be proteins, carbs, lipids, nucleic acids. Synthesise /secrete antibodies cd4 t helper cells: range of immune responses. Lymphocytes of adaptive immune system found in blood circulation and lymphoid tissues. Secondary lymphoid organs (red): where lymphocytes are activated. All lymphoid tissue has a very efficient blood supply. Lymphocytes enter the lymphoid tissue from the blood. Lymphocytes develop in primary lymphoid organs and enter the blood circulation. They can leave blood and circulate through the secondary lymphoid tissues (every 24hrs for t cells) but not any other tissues.
