Document Summary

Note ulna stays in place and radius rotates around. Note if you rest your hand the finger nail of the thumb is rotated 90o to nails of other fingers. Note flexion of thumb is in same plane as abduction of fingers. Muscles are: in compartments surrounded by deep fascia fascia of the arm: brachial fascia; fascia of the forearm: antebrachial fascia. Fascia allows muscles to move against each other without friction. Interosseus membrane binds radius & ulna together provides attachment for muscles directs forces between radius & ulna. Retinaculae binds down tendons (prevents bow stringing) protects nerves & vessels. Flexor retinaculum forms roof of the carpal tunnel contents = tendons (& synovial sheaths) median nerve. Hsf page 4 contents = tendons (& synovial sheaths) median nerve. Can tell you something about: shape action size attachment (origin / insertion) Muscle may work as prime movers synergists fixators / stabilisers.
