Equality: each individual receive the same, paying the same amount of the same services. Equity: some groups have greater needs, eliminating differences between groups, when the differences can be addressed. Perceptions of hip hop and rap: perception of hip hop and rap as misogynistic and homophobic, situates hip hop (and by association black urban culture) as the source of these issues, rather than a symptom, source of problem. One more night - maroon 5: who holds the power, the man, how are we positioned to see gender, race, class, sexuality and more. Music is not neutral : music is gendered, and gender is linked to pwoer and privilege. Identifying privilege and power in operation in music: personal, community, structural. Its about who you know, and men have the key roles of power and influence . As a female artist i commonly get comments from males saying i didnt expect you to be able to play guitar so well .
