Quantitative (objective) doing well and feeling good. Qualitative (subjective) doing good and feeling well: positive psychology. Music does not exist outside of relevant contexts. Music is a socio-cultural phenomenon and musical activity involves social action. Human interaction through music requires space and place: the act of musicking not necessarily in the capacity of a performer, the goodness function, darwinian theory courtship display. Musical behaviours indicate sexual fitness: dancing = aerobic fitness, coordination, strength and health, voice control = self-confidence and status, rhythmic ability = ability for sequencing complex physical actions. Good of the group: behaviours that contribute to group cohesion make other cooperative behaviours more likely, floating intentionality sharing coordinated, embodied space and time while lessening the potential for disagreements. Mutually meaningful: fosters togetherness encompasses diversity, both behavioural and emotional, reassurance through emotional regulation and enjoyment, development of musical communicativeness as a process of evolutionary adaption, further development into group process of emotional togetherness.
