Document Summary

Given that lawyers deal with people on a regular basis, and often with people who are in conflict, it is incredibly important to understand why people behave, think and feel in certain ways. By understanding the drivers behind why people think and act in certain ways, we can gather a better understanding as to why people engage in conflict/disputes. We can also then begin to appreciate what a person might need to think, see or hear in order to help them resolve a conflict or dispute. The law is an applied discipline, it is more than what is written in cases and legislation. It is applied to the behaviour of people. is that psychology only. A common misconception of psychology held by lawyers, concerns itself with mental health issues, such as depression, anxiety, stress. These issues fall under the heading of clinical psychology, which is a particular psychological specialisation. There are many different specialities and sub-disciplines of psychology.
