Politics:
• Can go beyond the government
• Governance – process for making important decisions
Power:
• The capacity of controlling others through power relations
• Never equally distributed
• Authoritative and coercive
• Can be a relationship among groups or individuals
Theories:
• Lukes radial theory of poer – have and make own decisions, ability of social actors and
groups, ideologial aipulatio of desires
• Marxist
• Feminist
• Southern
Movements:
• Collective actions – acting in union
• Routine and some non-routine
• Core example of the process of agency
Reasons:
• Cause seen as inequality
• Hope for change to occur
• Recognition
• Redistribution
• Social breakdown theory – (Deprivation, Strain & Anomie, Contagion)
Solidarity Theory:
• Mobilise resources
• More enduring and routine activities
• Depends on frame alignment
