PDHPE is 1 of 6 key learning areas (KLA) in the NSW primary curriculum o Directly concerned with
supporting the development of the student as a whole person o Based on the broad notion of health
that eopasses all aspets of a idiiduals ell eig. o Concerned with developing in students
the knowledge & understanding, skills, values and attitudes that will enable them to lead healthy &
fulfilling lives
PDHPE is an important key learning area within the primary curriculum as it: Promotes physical
activity Encourages an understanding & valuing of self and others Emphasises informed decision
making leading to effective & responsible action.

& objects oParticipation in composing, moving, & appreciating a range of dance styles
GAMES & SPORTS (GS) o Develop competence & confidence in a broad range of games, sports &
physical activities. o Develop fundamental movement skills. o Progress to game-specific / sport-
specific skills. o Competitive / non-competitive environments.
GYMNASTICS (GYM) o Movement exploration o Preliminary gymnastics skills o Variety of movement
