In today"s practical you will practice the methods used to examine blood pressure. Blood pressure is commonly measured using a sphygmomanometer and a stethoscope. The cuff is wrapped around the upper arm of the subject at a distance of approximately 2 inches above the elbow crease. The pressure in the cuff occludes (restricts or prevents) blood flow through the brachial artery. You must ensure the cuff is not inflated and pressure maintained at any time other than when directed in this tutorial. Inflate the pressure in the cuff reaches 180mmhg and slowly release pressure at a rate of approximately. Place the earpieces of the stethoscope in your ears, facing forward with the diaphragm facing your stomach. Attach the pressure cuff to a partners arm and inflate once more.
