Icy frost penetrates the rider to the bone. Rain relentlessly tumbles onto bare skin and mist snakes around to be the rider"s cloak. The road ahead is bleak, a palette of grey. The vision ahead is hazy and indistinguishable, and the bike shudders on the unforgiving terrain. The inky night seems to spread for an eternity. Propped up by cushions in the armchair, an elderly grandmother stares vacantly out a window. Her frightened grey eyes are unfocused and her lips purse, as in an attempt to form words. Seated beside, her daughter and granddaughter fight over the tv remote. The clouds are parting, and the sun begins to peep through. The wheels are turning more freely, and the sun reveals colour into the rider"s surroundings.
