To understand an arts-rich classroom you must first understand what quality arts education looks like. Sequential learning planned that enables growth in arts making and responding. Sequential and sustained learning in making" and responding". When you are planning your program of work over a term, and more importantly on a weekly/daily basis you need to consciously ask yourself the question have i regularly used music and visual arts?". This should include varieties of learning tasks that include both making and responding, and explicit use of arts language. Substantial" learning means learning that is of substance or quality. In the arts this means authentic making and responding as artists and significant use of arts language. Student-centred teaching and the student as an active learner. Learner agency is significant in developing a student-centred arts program.
