ANHB1102 Lecture 31: Human Behaviour 1 Notes
ANHB1102: Human Behavior 1
- Behavior is important in driving evolution
- Behavior is the interface with the environment, with the physical challenges of environment (work,
rain, school, temp), precedes the evolution of many anat and phy features
Proximate = what controls a characteristic,
outcome/relationship within lifetime of individual
- eg. explain eating = when hungry
Ultimate = comparison analysis, distributed across
species.
Have both for any trait!! Individual have selective
pressures acting on them depending on their physical
environment = hence the way we behave.
- Biological – what we eat etc.
- Evolution of behavior – talking about ultimate
Document Summary
Behavior is the interface with the environment, with the physical challenges of environment (work, rain, school, temp), precedes the evolution of many anat and phy features. Proximate = what controls a characteristic, outcome/relationship within lifetime of individual. Individual have selective pressures acting on them depending on their physical environment = hence the way we behave. Evolution of behavior talking about ultimate. Ultimate how was this behavior and coping mechanism respond to the environment in the past. Plasticity = behavior and phenotypes can develop in. What is it that"s unique about humans? different ways depending on environment, eg. learning. Touch cheek, they will turn to you because think it is nipple (baby) Much plastic = it changes with development, experience (learning), social learning = where we can learn from the experiences of others through watching or hearing. From generation to generation, not in a lifetime. How the phenotype work in that environment.
