Amateur musicians who go to small recording studios. Folk-rock was initially spawned by the byrds and bob dylan. Many garage bands were formed at this time. But in some cases, the bands or tunes took off. They were characterized by aggressive and enthusiastic playing. Hollywood started up with a bunch of pop shows similar to american bandstand. Things were starting to move from new york. Bob dylan moved from minnesota to new york and became part of the folk scene. 1964 he was the most well-known and respected folk singer. At the time people would have liked the covers of his songs more than the originals.
