Each fireweed flower produces 70,000-100,000 seeds: hooks and barbs catch on hair or feathers. Looking close at the seeds, they look like velcro: queen anne"s lace also uses animal power for seed dispersal, but not every day. Since the seeds won"t stick well if the seed is wet and the animal is wet, the umbel closes on cloudy days. The plants bribe animals with sweet food and the seeds travel inside the animal. The animals have been exploited as seed dispersers. Recall waxwings eat fruit and poop out the seeds. They have been exploited as seeds dispersers: but recall there are some seeds predators too (i. e. chipmunks, seed dispersal also takes place in very different habitats. The pay animals to disperse their seeds, but not big animals like bears.
