Conscious of self des(cid:272)a(cid:396)tes"s (cid:862)i thi(cid:374)k the(cid:396)efo(cid:396)e i a(cid:373)(cid:863); a(cid:449)a(cid:396)e(cid:374)ess of (cid:449)hat is doi(cid:374)g the a(cid:272)tio(cid:374) o(cid:396) having the experience. We will discuss consciousness of the latter two types. It is possible to be conscious in the latter sense whilst not being awake (for example, dreaming). Automatization as we get better at things, they become easier to do and faster and we can think about other things while we do them. It gets so fast that making yourself conscious of it will mess up your performance. Perhaps babies are more conscious than we are, because they are habituated to nothing. Consciousness is not the main event much of what the brain/mind does is not available to the consciousness, or does not require consciousness. It is like an iceberg- only a small part of the mind is available to reflect on or control.
