There is no universal de nition of law our task is to see what law does and how it operates, what it means in the hands of other people, and constitutions etc. Private law - relations between people, contracts, property, forms of negligence. Public law - relations with the state, public institutions, constitutional law, In some legal traditions, some legal formalities have di erent understandings of law and form: law demonstrates a commitment to the cultivation and reproductions of a speci c language. Preclude misunderstanding cause by language, dialects, etc. Language has a certain grammar, the syntax of the language and vocabulary, law is similar to that. To have a strong argument, you must use the correct syntax, you need to develop an underlying grammar for law. You need a working law vocabulary to build your argument. To master the law, you must learn the language of law.
